The Voice of
AACO was started in 2013 by a small steering group of Optometrists that served on a Walmart advisory board. They decided to create an organization that
is inclusive of all retail brands and includes both practice owners and employed optometrists. The original name of the association was “EnergEyes”, selected because of the founders’ excitement about this new organization combined with the incorporation of the word “eyes” to represent Optometry. Today,
as a non-profit and unified voice, AACO continues
to serve the community of corporate-affiliated optometrists through education, advocacy,
and practice management tools.

affiliated optometrists, so they may provide the highest quality care to their patients.
AACO exists to advance the clinical practice and image, both publicly
and inter-professionally, of Corporate Optometry.
